Hey everyone!
Greetings from Kitami. Hope you are all doing fine and dandy, things
are good out here. We have been seeing miracles and feeling the
spirits guidance. There have been too many times where we decide to go
housing in an area, and we are about to leave since know one wants to
talk, when we will knock on one more door and find someone who is
totally prepared. Crazy Stuff. We have 2 investigators right now who
are progressing towards baptism, it is so special to be able to see
someones belief and testimony grow week by week.
We had a ward BBQ picnic the other day, it was a great chance to bond
with the members here and have some tasty grilled pig intestine, which
is starting to grow on me. It is nice having so many hills in this
town, I love being able to chug all the way to the top of the biggest
hill to visit an investigator, then come flying back down. If I cant
snowboard or wakeboard the next 2 years, I at least have the hills to
get my adrenaline fix. No complaints so far, just hard work, strong
faith, and alot of fun. Hope you all are doing well. Feel free to
write!

Hello Everyone!
> Greeting from Kitami, Japan. Things are going swell here. The weather
> lately has been lovely, almost a little too good when we are biking up
> to that investigators house that lives at the very top of the hills.
> But hey, no complaints from us. Transfer 1 has just ended, Ive been
> here 6 weeks now, sometimes it feels like alot less, and sometimes it
> feels like alot more, but I am loving it. I am still getting used to
> people staring and school girls giggling as we go by. Either God
> really loves us or we are very lucky, as my "nearly being run over by
> people not looking both ways when they pull out onto the road" is at
> about 7, lets just say Ive come within inches of a few bumpers. The
> other day someinvestigators gave us some tasty food, we call them
> "tako balls" (tako is Octopus) since it is just an octopus tentacle
> with suckers and all fried in some kind of dumpling thing, it was
> chewy but good. Our investigators are well, we have 3 baptism dates
> and one guy who is golden, we are working hard with him and everyone
> else so there should be some miracles soon. Other than that not much
> is going on, we are making every Preparation Day an adventure. Lots of
> fun, and lots of hard work. There was a missionary I got to know well
> who just finished and went home a few days ago, he said: "a mission is
> like being held in the arms of Jesus while Satan is standing there
> punching you". Im beggining to understand what he means. Please keep
> all the missionaries out there in your prayers, we need all the help
> we can get. Everyone have fun and write sometime!

 Dear People who Love Me,
> Things are going good in Kitami, the weather has been fantastic,
> perfect for short sleeves, but not so fun when we are biking up hills
> all day. But hey, my legs are looking good...and pale. Oh well. Japan
> is certainly an interesting country, Im about used to sleeping on a
> futon (not the same as America, here it is just a little pad), ive got
> 3 stacked up, making my bed about 3 inches thick...on the floor. Food
> updates: so far Ive had stir fried cow intestine, and some amazing
> sushi, last week I had it with squid and octopus, just raw tentacle,
> sucker and all. It was a little chewy, but pretty good. Too much rice,
> Ive had a traditional Japanese breakfast a few times, which means a
> bowl of rice with a raw egg and soy sauce, and a bowl of mizo soup (a
> broth made from soy beans). It is not very filling, or flavorful. I
> prefer my granola and toast with peanut butter.
> The missionary work is awesome, we have some incredible investigators.
> No baptisms yet, but we are planning on a few very soon. The language
> has been coming along smoothly, I can pretty much comfortably talk to
> anyone I meet, which comes in handy. My companion and I pretty much
> split up all our lessons and all, so I definately feel like I am
> contributing to this great work. It seems like its always right when
> you're getting frustrated, tired, and maybe a little homesick that a
> miracle happens, and I realize how blessed I am, And we get right back
> to work. So far Ive realized that life is so short, and we should all
> do everything we can to make every second count. Its also when youve
> gone a few weeks without TV or the internet that you realize how much
> more you experience the world without it. So do me a favor: next time
> you are about to watch that pointless TV show or "surf" the internet,
> and ask yourself if there is something more you can contribute. I
> promise you there is something better, more uplifting and enriching.
> Just find it, enjoy it, and remember it. More pics coming soon,
> remember you can find it all at elderandrewjones.blogspot.com. Love
> you all.
